FAQ

  1. Where is the wedding taking place?

The ceremony is located at Sage Chapel. The address is Ho Plaza, Ithaca, NY 14853. The reception is located across the pedestrian mall at Willard Straight Hall. Ushers will assist you with walking from the ceremony to the reception.

  1. What time is the ceremony? What time is the reception?

Please aim to arrive between 11:30 to 11:45 to enjoy a casual, pre-ceremony concert by Cornell Chimes, the O’Shanigans, and Cornell organist Bill Cowdery. The ceremony will start promptly at noon. The reception will take place from 1:30 PM to 7:00 PM.

  1. What is the dress code? What should I wear?

The dress code preference is for high fantasy; attire suited for a renaissance festival or Lord of the Rings reenactment, for example, would be delightful. Formal wedding attire is also appropriate for the occasion. The wedding colors are gold, Carnelian red, and black. Please reach out to us if you need assistance assembling an outfit.

  1. What weather should I expect?

In New York you can see all four seasons on the same day! We will provide updates to guests if the weather changes significantly. We have prepared various spells to keep guests dry and warm.

  1. Will the wedding be indoors or outdoors?

The ceremony will be indoors. The reception will be outdoors. We will have a tent on the terrace and some indoor seating available. We encourage you to bring a parasol or hat if you are sensitive to sunlight.

  1. What should I expect after the ceremony?

After the ceremony, the wedding party will take pictures at the chapel for about an hour. Guests can walk over to Willard Straight Hall to enjoy appetizers and drinks at the cocktail hour and undertake exciting side quests. In the spirit of community, we will learn beginner contra dancing moves together before settling in for dinner at 4:00 pm. Other surprises may follow!

  1. Will transportation be provided? Is there easy parking at the venue(s)?

We are not providing any formal transportation but our ceremony and reception are taking place in the same area. There is ample parking for those who feel comfortable driving, and Uber/Lyft is a great option for those who don’t. Please stay safe and default to a ride service or carpooling if you plan to drink. Guests may park at Willard Straight Hall, the municipal parking garage located at 118 Dryden Road, or Hoy Garage located at 167 Hoy Road. Guests staying at the Statler Hotel will have access to valet parking.
